This is what happens to many children that are put in dhs custody when they are taken from their families.

Roseanna Grace's Story in her own words.

Upon first arriving at Shadow Mountain everything seemed fine. My foster family talked to some of the staff while I played with my dolls. They showed me my room and introduced me to my room-mate. Later, when it was time to eat, they were having PB&J sandwiches, I didn't like them and refused to eat, I was sent to my room. The next day I was again presented with the same sandwich, this time however I was sent to a padded room with straps on the walls and floors with no lights or windows. I was tied up and left there. I am not sure how long I was there, I do know that it was morning when I went in and when I was sent to my room, it was dark outside. I learned that if I was going to eat, then I would have to eat stuff I didn't like. No matter what or they would lock me up. Not long after that, I was put in the padded room again for no reason. This time a different person from the last person came in, it was a young man with short blond hair. I thought he was going to let me out, but he raped me and then left me there for three days with no food or water. When I was let out, they said my foster parents were there to visit me. They gave me a bath and sent me to my room. I heard some one knock on the window and one of the staff unlocked a small metal door at the bottom, I had to talk through it. I told my foster parent everything was fine because I was scared. The isolation and rape increased to weeks at a time. When I was in my room I was tied to the bed with the door bolted shut. They also moved my room-mate to her own room, a chair replaced her bed. One of the staff would sit on it and just stare at me, I wasn't allowed to speak unless they asked me a direct question, I was trained like a dog. I was told that I did not speak until I was spoken to, I was supposed to have no opinions or questions. When I mis-behaved they would lock me up. One time I remember screaming and fighting not to get locked up and they gave me some kind of shot. I stayed at Shadow Mountain when I was seven years old and still to this day I have severe anxiety from being in a room with no windows. If I'm stuck in a room I will bust out the windows if I can't get out the door, while having a panic attack. I honestly don't know what would happen if I wasn't able to exit a room I was locked up in alone.
